It’s National Rhodesian Ridgeback Month!

Full disclosure, there’s no such thing as National Rhodesian Ridgeback Month, but I’m not one to let a minor detail like that stop me from celebrating. In an age when seemingly every type of stationary and confectionary has it’s own holiday, I’m unceremoniously announcing today as the first officially unofficial celebration of N.R.R.M

And how did I pick March for this holiday? Easy.

Rhodesian Ridgeback, lion, blog, month

“March comes in like a lion, and out like a lion being chased by Ridgebacks!” Or, at least that’s how I think the saying goes

To celebrate, I’m happy to shave a ridge hair cut for you – free of charge. Alternatively, you can just check out this video about the rigors of Rhodesian Ridgeback life on the savannah/my futon.

Comments for Happy Rhodesian Ridgeback Month!

  1. Ahh! Penny was so little!

  2. Pat says:

Two very fierce beasties there! I think NRRM is an excellent idea. Think of all the festivities there would be. 🙂

  3. Oh boy… that was a time… as she started to grow into her fur… Happy RR month, my dad would like such a hair cut, maybe you can use the chainsaw too like he cut the poor tree yesterday?

  4. Will, I have to say, of all the videos you have made, this is my favorite! And how about tiny Penny? SO CUTE! Sharing on my Facebook so my friends can enjoy 🙂 ~Samantha

  5. Victoria says:

Oh my gosh she was so small – seems link a long time ago – cutest little lion ever (except Eko of course)

  6. Emmadog says:

We don’t hunt any lions like you guys do in Chicago, but we keep our ‘hood free of wabbits. We can get a wabbit in no time flat. Happy hunting this March!

  7. coastingnz says:

Fabulous. I suspect there may have been times when Eko was thinking of turning into a Lion against you for introducing this little thing to annoy him but seeing how much Penny adores her big brother is just so precious – and what a good big brother he is. Very patient boy – with you both lol

  8. fredrieka says:

Is there a Mutt month? Hope so. I know in our town in September we have a Mutt march I am just hoping there is a Mutt month

  9. KarenS says:

She sure was a cute little stinker wasn’t she. And she still is.

Thanks for the look back, they are small for such a short time.

  10. John Arvin says:

Love it! Great idea Will 🙂

  11. Thanks for the flashback, Will! Quite frankly, I don’t see much change in Penny excepting size! She’s still a crazy girl. Eko is a saint. Neeka still looks at Khoi with that “are you still here” look. Except yesterday after their bath; she was pestering him to run for a change. He was too busy digging after a gopher (and getting filthy). Again.

  12. Kismet says:

No, March is Scottish Terrier month. Stuart (RIP) declared it so.

  13. I just love when you do this!!! Can’t believe Penny was sooooo small!!!!!! But she has been power-packed and feisty since day one!! Happy March!!!

  14. I like the adage…’March stepped in like a Rhodesian Ridgeback.’ Has a certain cache to it. 🙂

  15. Hope you guys have a great month of celebration!

  16. Cupcake says:

Turns out lions are not as tough as they look. They’re actually adorable!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  17. Oh we remember those cool “outfits” – Penny and Eko make FABULOUS Lions and as a cat I hereby grant them membership in the “Honorary Cat/Lion Club” !! HAPPY Rhodesian Ridgeback Month kids!

    Love, Sammy

  18. I think your guys should have their own month, I love it!
