Except when it’s backwards and upside down, that is
When the pups flip up, it never fails to make me smile
Even when they stay upright, the pups often find at least part of themselves ends up on the flip side
Their ears, in particular. It’s funny how a little flip of the ear gives each dog a completely different look
Eko looks like an old man with an old-style megaphone hearing aid
While Penny…Penny reminds me of a princess. In a galaxy far, far away
Princess Leia!
Penny didn’t find the joke quite so funny as I did
Anyone else live with an upside down sleeper or a pup with a perpetual ear flip?
Butthead sleeps upsidedown all the time. It looks uncomfortable, but she seems to be completely comfortable. Sweet Pea used to do that, too. I don’t understand it because both of them have/had very pronounced spines, so how was that comfortable? Meanwhile, Le Moo has a very wide back that seems like it might be muy comfortable to sleep on, yet she NEVER does.
Sam usually sleeps curled up so no ear flipping then but they will flip when he tosses his hairs over his shoulder looking back toward me. I remind him out loud to “fix’ your ear.” He looks at me as though I spoke in Yugoslavian. 🙂
You know how cats sleep – in the most contorted, weird and uncomfortable-looking positions possible but they seem to love that. Yoga specialists. Sam sleeps a LOT these days and rarely isn’t in some sort of strange position. His ears don’t flop or flip though – at his age he suffers enough indignities that he doesn’t need out of place ears too! LOL
Hugs, Pam
Penny is natural born movie star!! She knows how to woo the camera!!
When my dog Goliath, a German Shepherd mix was a puppy, he would fold down his ears. One day they were up. “Put your ears down,” I said, “you look much less aggressive.” “No,” said my roommate, “Keep them up, you look much more dignified.” He looked at me, looked at her, then back to me. He put one ear down, and his ears remained that way for the rest of his life.
Bailie is a master of the pretzel moves. I think younger pups have an easier time with that, but all dogs are fun to watch when things are laying “wrong”.
I think she makes a great Princess Leia!
Princess Penny is cute with ears flipped or not. Love these guys
Every once in awhile, Khoi will roll over in his sleep. I’ll occasionally get a paw in the face (Yes, we’re weak and they both sleep with us). Neeka will only roll over when it’s her turn to play submissive, which gives her better position to get her mouth around Khoi’s throat. She always gives me those “poor puppy eyes” when I roll her over to check her for ticks. After this winter, you would think she would be used to it. Record number of the little pests.
And flipped ears…..always. Especially after sticking their heads out the window. Can’t seem to teach them “fix your ear” command.
I suspect Penny was saying to you – Dad, are you bored……. lol Nico’s ears don’t seem to flip the same way as Ziggy’s – on a hot day I have to ensure they are the right way so he doesn’t get burnt.
Juley sometimes does what always reminds me of the Flying Nun – both ears are outstretched. Yes her ears flop from time to time but it just funny looking to me.
Ears? This parrot doesn’t know ears.
My canine sis, Tallulah Bee, loves to sleep on her back, spread eagle . . . and when she does, she smiles. It cracks Mommy up! Love Penny’s Princess Leia look!
These pictures put a smile on my face. 🙂
My boys love to run around with their ears flipped back! And they always seem to find a way to be inside, outside, upside down! Flopadopolous!
I love being upside playing with my toys. Or sleeping.
Easy is a back sleeper, we sometimes watch him with using the light of our phones at night… sadly the cam is not good enough to take photos :o)
Atlas is upside-down in my lap as I read this post…definitely his (and my!) favorite way to snooze.
Haaaa!! Penny does look like her!!! Cody is the “upside down sleeper” in our house!
