Penny’s Lion King Audition

While I was cleaning out my closest, Penny decided to pull her lion mane costume from its bag. It was clearly a sign she wanted to don her ancestral garb in order to show off her acting chops.

Penny makes a powerful lion

A fearsome beast, indeed!

The part she was born to play

I’ve sent repeated query letters to The Lion King on Broadway about setting up a formal audition for Penny but for some reason have yet to hear back. “She can’t even sing!” some might scoff, but trust me, the girl has pipes: Rhodesian Ridgeback, lion king, marking our territory

She knows how to whine all the high notes. Especially if dinner is late

Ready for the bright lights of Broadway

So what do you say, Disney? Give the girl a chance!

She is a fearsome and formidable beast, even when not in costume.

She was born to play the part. Bravo Ms Penny. Bravo!!!

  5. Victoria Coleman says:

she looks very regal and wild – i’d cast her!

  6. Connie Taylor says:

Will, I think you need to start Penny in a local theater to build up her reputation and then go to Broadway before striking out for DoggyWood (Hollywood). Then you can get her an acting agent to represent her and then Disney might take her role more seriously, followed by her audition tape. And before we know it winning “Best Actress” at the Oscars

Whenever I see the lion mane on another breed, I just shake my head and think “Rhodesian wannabes.” That costume was made for our RRs and Penny is the poster child, although Eko was the true King of Beasts. I love how you got Penny to snarl. What did you say to her? That dinner was going to be late?
Thanks for the chuckles this morning, Will.

  8. T&S says:

  11. Eve Walraven says:

Oh she does have the right looks for this part!! Wish it was true! Lion King has always been a favorite in this house since it came out! Oldest watched it in the theater when he was 6-8 months old and watched all of it w/o fussing! Have a good day!

  12. coastingnz says:

Fearsome, pretty, regal all in one – yep, she has what it takes for sure. I’d come and watch her.

  13. Judy Petitto says:

    Fierce!

  14. She’s a natural. A cute, vicious, adorable, focused, scattered, smiling natural!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  15. I have NEVER, EVER seen ANYONE more suited for the part!! xoxo

  16. Helge says:

    Will,
i’m so happy to see, that you’re focusing Penny more and more. That’s what i wanted to see, because she is the one, that Eko speaks through. Do you remember your post “Don’t wait for the “right time” to get a pet”? Will, don’t wait too long, because Penny and you need another dog, think about it. we all know that Eko can never be replaced, he is and he will be always in your mind, heart and soul.

Thanks for all Will, you almost write what i feel.
Best wishses from Berlin, Germany and please keep on the good work.
    Helge & Nelson
