Years ago our first ridge was running through an open field, in the same mode as Penny. Another dog owner mentioned that he was just experiencing pure joy. Later when Bruno and Ty came to live with us, the breeder called that activity “happy feet”.
Penny is just such a happy girl. And expresses it through those crazy circles she runs on the beach. And much like my old Bruno there seems to be an importance of digging a hole before the explosion.

i love that – made me laugh out loud. Must have been a great hole to dig – she certainly enjoyed digging it and running in circles – that was so funny. Its always such a heart warming vision – our dogs just loving and living in the moment.

My mom needs to find a nose work event in your area for Bailie. She can bring my two crazy sisters to hang out with your crazy girl. They would all have a blast. Me, I will stay home and watch over the cats. Some dogs are just born crazy I think.

At 12 years old Rusty still runs zoomies around the yard, around the house, then takes a long nap. As rambunctious as he is, I suspect he would just sit back and watch Penny Mayhem. GO, PENNY, GO!!
I just love her!!! So much fun to watch…..and I have never heard the term for that burst of energy they suddenly get. Ha! Perfect description. Our boy just gets them temporarily, as you mentioned here. Penny is just special!

I just LOVE THAT GIRL!!!!! Penny marches to her own drummer for sure.
I just shared your video with Khoi. I now have massive nose prints on my screen. He loves to watch Penny run crazy! Neeka’s more like “eh, I dig holes and run around them all the time.” Which explains why I have so many pictures of her with sand or dirt all over her face.
She was just looking for the perfect place to go potty.
Those are extreme zooms that most dogs could not keep up with! After three years of this I agree it just is Penny and her world, her love of life and that crazy mayhem that we all love so much about her.She is amazing!

Wish you were closer, we would have an equal companion for play. Our male is calm, so I sometimes think that he is abused with crazy behavior from our female like this.
I love watching any pup doing zoomies, but have to admit, Penny Mayhem really is creative with her spin on ’em. Add to it, she’s treasure hunting, well if you don’t smile at that, there’s something clearly lacking in your heart. Go Penny, go!!!

My Echo, 18 mo RR, does the same thing as Penny when on the beach! I call it FRAP…ing, or Frenetic Random Activity Period! I make sure to climb onto a rock to avoid being slammed during the run-about phase. Hmmmm, maybe Echo and Penny are related?! 😉
