I know I’ve been scarce around these parts lately, but it’s certainly not for a lack of action! With Lincoln strapped to my chest and a dog in each hand it’s been easier for me to post daily updates over on instagram. But I have plenty of longer form essays/videos I’m working on to post here. In the meantime, for those of you who don’t use the service, below is a short video I posted on instagram today.  Zero may be built like a linebacker but he’s doing a wonderful job pirouetting around Lincoln like a ballerina. It’s not easy for an adolescent pup to show restraint so I’m proud of how our training is coming along.
Happy Friday, catch up with everyone soon!

Comments for [VIDEO] My Big Ballerina

  1. they are amazing… so sweet to see them together… is it a kind of instinct that Zero knows which one of the toys are for Lincoln and which one are for him?
Your Lincoln is the happiest boy ever… it is wonderful to grow up with dogs ;o)

  2. Pat says:

I think even at Lincoln’s age he can appreciate the benefits of a warm, furry companion. They’re going to be great together!

  3. Sue says:

It is so sweet to see the two of them together. They are going to be such great buddies growing up. How exciting to see Lincoln is rolling over! I am wondering the same thing as “easweimaraner” about the toys. I noticed that Zero left Lincoln’s toy and went and got his own instead. Thanks for the update.

  4. KDKH says:

Our old English mastiff was a wonderful dog around our baby. It was always so fun to see a toddler leading the giant dog around by the collar. Of course, mastiffs are much slower and more mellow than ridgebacks (more my speed). Looks like Zero was there to share Lincoln’s success with him in a wonderful slobbery way. Everyone needs their own cheerleader like that!

  5. coastingnz says:

oh my gosh that is awesome. Don’t do the instagram thing so lovely to get an update. Can’t believe how much Lincoln has grown – but also Zero. Both big boys now.

  6. Emmadog says:

So sweet. We have always loved the babies in the neighborhood and watching them grow, but we never were allowed to get as close as Zero does. Nice set of boys there!

  7. While much of your passion and success may be from natural ability or family of origin I can’t help but think that Eko had a major influence on how well you are doing as a dad (for the pups and for Lincoln). Hats off to you Will.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  8. Monica says:

Would love to know some of your training routines. I too have a young pup in the house and my 6 month old grand daughter will be spending Christmas with us.

  9. Victoria says:

oh my gosh – Lincoln is growing so fast and so cute – and by gosh his best budy Zero is sure a sweetheart with him – guessing Penny is just as good around him. Have a great weekend

  10. Eve says:

I had been wondering about your guys! But Zero is doing such a wonderful job around Lincoln I could hardy believe it was the same rough and rumble pup we had gotten use to seeing!! Keep up the good work!
    Hugs to all!!

  11. Judy Petitto says:

OMG! Both growing by leaps and bounds and so adorable! Where’s Miss Mayhem?

  12. Goodness but Lincoln is getting to be so active – I’d say soccer star from those legs pumping and his excellent turning ability! He’s just so adorable. Zero is no slouch in the “adorable” department either – he’s obviously fascinated with Lincoln but not OVERLY so and the training for “gentle giant” seems to be working just fine – I love that Lincoln will grow up knowing animals are loving and kind by nature if they know love and kindness – I see some “best buddies” in their future……….

    Pam

  13. Little Lincoln sure is growing! Kudos for surviving a big puppy and a growing little boy. Your absence has been noted but we certainly understand the challenges of juggling babies and dogs…together! You deserve sainthood.

  14. At first Zero thought ALL toys were his, but we’re training him to leave Lincoln’s toys alone. As you see, they can be quite difficult to resist.

  15. I was so proud of him for doing that! We’re working to teach Zero to only play with toys I specifically give to him, or ones that I put in the dog-toy bin. As Lincoln ages he’ll get the same rules.

  16. Zero may have planted more kisses on Lincoln than Emily and I combined.

  17. Lincoln’s growth is picking up steam and Zero’s is (hopefully) leveling off so that his little brother can catch up.

  18. This is a completely new experience for all of us. Penny’s playing the long game and waiting until Lincoln can start wooing her with leftovers.

  19. Couldn’t agree more. It’s a debt I can never repay, but I try to pay it forward each day.

  20. “Leave it” and “gentle” are two commands which have been essential around here. Also making sure everyone is in charge of their own space and not encroached upon sets us all up for success. As always, positive reinforcement (ie treats) for gentle interactions goes a long way.

  21. Lincoln, like the rest of us, must earn Penny’s love. Once crumbs start falling from his high chair I have a feeling that relationship is going to blossom.

  22. Thanks! Been a hectic but enjoyable few months.

  23. Resting comfortably on the couch, overseeing her minions. Penny runs the show and I have the feeling Zero and Lincoln are going to be her henchman in whatever mischief she plots.

  24. He’s a mover and a shaker for sure. Going to keep all of us in shape keeping up

  25. Sainthood? no chance. A nap? That sounds nice.

  26. When you’re a parent hopefully you get both.

  27. Ben says:

I’m not a big baby fan but they look so perfect together. Eco would be so proud. I can’t believe how much you have grown Will. But I still have you thank for what I’ve learned over the years to get my amazing RR girl.
