  1. I had multiple RRs in various apartments for more than 15 years before moving to a house with a yard. As you point out, it can be done, but you have to be willing to put in the time for adequate excercise. Off-leash excercise in a securely fenced area is also a must!

    • Shannon – I agree. Off leash exercise is a must (and obviously in a securely fenced in area). And it is great to watch them run.

Great video.We have a big fenced in yard which is what every large dog needs right?Not necessarily.While it is certainly much easier to just open the back door for bathroom breaks-a major convenience to be sure that does not constitute excersise.So every day rain or shine we get in the car and go to one of our favorite places where Nikki can run and sniff to her heart’s content and often meet up with her doggie friends.Not only does she get her excersise but I do too! Much better than just opening the back door and then wondering why she is wild and badly behaved.People often ask me how I trained her to be such a good girl.While it is true that I have put a lot of work into her I also believe our daily hikes have a great deal to do with it.
