Wedding season ends for me with a coast to coast itinerary over the next two weekends. Next week I will drive to New Jersey for my cousin’s wedding and Eko will of course be my faithful copilot for that trip. But this weekend I take to the skies and travel to California for my good friend’s wedding. Since Eko’s tux won’t be ready in time for California, he opted to stay in Chicago.
The good news is that Eko will stay with my friend Rachel and her pup, Riley – who was one of Eko’s very first friends.
At one point Eko and Riley were the same size!
But I think that “one point” probably lasted all of ten minutes
Eko’s sleepover meant that I spent this morning packing each of us a bag
And of course Eko came in with his “Hey, what’s going on here?” face
Which was quickly followed by his sad “Hey, I know what’s going on here and I don’t like it one bit!” face
This is one of those times I could really use an English-To-Dog translation device. Even though Eko is going to have a great weekend with a great friend, he doesn’t know that so he is resigned to pouting. With a good romp and a few treats before I go, I’m sure he won’t miss me a bit.
Well, maybe I would be ok with him missing me just a little bit!
How sad Eko. You will be away from your daddy. I would be very very sad if I had to be away from Mama. Have fun with Riley and he will be back before you know it! Woooowooooo, Ku
So…I read that you are on the lookout for wonderful adventurous places for you to take Eko. If you ever make it to CA, San Diego to be specific, a must go dog paradise is Fiesta Island. https://www.facebook.com/FIDOSD?ref=hl This is the facebook page of the group FIDO who are trying to stop any development of this amazing area. They feature a Dog of the Week, and share a bunch of cool dog photos. My girls LOVE it there. There is even a pack of Ridgebacks that meet there. Eko would love it!
He will be well taken care of (as you know) and he will have a special doggy furiend, but trust me, he is gonna miss you BIG TIME! Safe travels and have a wonderful time at the wedding!
This makes me think of the movie Up! and the whole Dug (the dog) and Carl. As a former (for now) dog owner, I could not more understand the relationship between the two. In the movie, Dug actually wore a translator. I feel like it’s not quite the typical Pixar movie, but it grows on me. (I’ve only seen it twice.)
And the line “I hid underneath the porch because I love you.” TOTALLY cracks me up. I feel like that particular scene was meant for dog owners everywhere.
He will have a blast with his friend and when you are back, he will appreciate you even more. The reunion is always the best!
Eventhough Eko will have a good time with his friend he will still miss you Will. I too wish we had a way to let our sweet dogs know all that is going on so they would not be sad and or pout. Eko’s face is very expressive. Hugs and nose kisses
I bet Eko has a fab time with Riley!
Sulk when he returns for at least two days Eko as we do that and you watch the treats pour into your paws 🙂
good luck Eko and try not to get up to too much mischief! You and Riley are adorable 🙂
