Blaze of Glory

Yet another cold front swept through Chicago this weekend. We’re hoping it’s winter’s last gasp, but you never know.  In any event, the weather made the space heater a hot commodity in the apartment. Emily managed to snag prime position for a nap, but Eko was not so easily

Yet another cold front swept through Chicago this weekend. We’re hoping it’s winter’s last gasp, but you never know.  In any event, the weather made the space heater a hot commodity in the apartment. Emily managed to snag prime position for a nap, but Eko was not so easily deterred.

In the latest display of his “lap dog is a state of mind” mantra, Eko valiantly tried to find a comfy perch

Sure, the other half of the couch was completely open, but Eko had to be by the heater

So he squirmed and contorted and wedged himself in place

I was cracking up, but Eko was not amused

As much as I enjoyed the show, I figured it was best to find a solution where Eko wouldn’t break his back and crush Emily at the same time.  We had just enough wood left for one good fire and a lazy Sunday seemed like the perfect time to use our fireplace one last time before we move.

With the fire roaring, Em and Eko were both warmer and significantly more comfortable

The fireplace is undoubtedly one of the best parts about this apartment and I’m really going to miss it

And so is this guy!

We’re going to miss the fireplace, but we’re not going to miss this winter! Hopefully it warms up for good soon.

Oh I agree 100%! Winter needs to be gone yesterday – we had a little bit of pretty weather yesterday here at the Hotel Thompson. Back to cold icky weather this morning. One word. Yuck. XOXO – Bacon

  2. maybe your new place will have one? They even have really adorable portable fireplaces (that really work!) that maybe you could get if it doesn’t?

  3. I hope this winter will be over soon. We have bad weather since yesterday too. And I thought we have spring. Maybe my dad could make you a new fireplace, I could ask him :o) ( he will need 87 years and I’m afraid you never will see a warm fire, but the fun to watch him will be priceless, I’m sure)

Hahaha awesome photos! Kasper loves to lie on top of me in bed too…usually when my partner’s just brought him back from a wet, muddy walk. Dogs are just the best 😀

Hawahwhhahwaaa we almost didn’t see Emily under Eko 🙂 Love the roaring fire xxoxxx

  6. Oh Eko, you’re always good for a laugh buddy!

  7. Emma says:

I like that Eko has his behind in Emily’s face! Us dogs love to give humans the butt. Bailie often does that with Mom in bed and Mom gets so mad at her! Hope your new place will have a fireplace.

  8. Misaki says:

Can’t believe you still have winter, it’s crazy!

  9. We have similar issues at our house. The couch is never big enough is it Eko?

  10. Really hoping you guys find a good place to live. Eko seems so happy in this apartment. Happy hunting we will be cheering you on!

  11. No fireplace in the new place? How sad. Emily will be squished 😉

  12. Eko is soooo smart and soooo funny. Poor Emily though she must have felt a bit weighted down until you got the fireplace going. Hugs and nose kisses
