Penny and her wing-ears prepare to take flight
But this past weekend was the actual Air and Water Show in Chicago, and it’s one of my favorite events in the city. Watching the planes take over the skyline is mesmerizing, and I always make sure to find a good spot to watch. Montrose Dog beach has an unobstructed view, so I got to combine two of my favorite things and watch my four-legged fighter jets romp underneath the real ones.
The highlight of the show was/is/always will be the Blue Angels.
I still have trouble walking up the stairs without tripping, so I can’t comprehend how the Angels have the coordination to fly this close in formation
Not only that, they also kept buzzing the beach and city buildings at extremely close range. It was an incredible show
Not to be outdone, Penny decided to round up her own squad on the beach.
Penny met our pal Cash for the first time and quickly recruited him to her squadron
The three pups cruised in formation…
But things got a bit hectic when we added a fourth pilot to the crew
Penny breaking formation
What my Blue Dog Angels lacked in discipline, they certainly made up for with enthusiasm. After a long romp, we all laid on the beach and enjoyed watching the pros.
Not too shabby for a free show!
I love my on-call Air and Water Show each time I visit the beach, but nothing beats the real deal. If you ever have a chance to see the Blue Angels in action make sure you take it. Like a couple pups I know, the Angels know how to put on a show!
