Does Your Pet Have A Sense Of Humor?

Eko never laughs at any of my jokes, but neither does anyone else, so that is not a good test of whether Eko has a sense of humor. “I’m laughing at you, Will – not with you.” Now, of course pets don’t

“I’m laughing at you, Will – not with you.”

Now, of course pets don’t have a developed sense of humor, but Eko certainly gets a kick out of joking with both dogs and people.

Eko never steals toys because he wants them, he steals them because another dog wants them!  He thinks it is a hoot to play keep away

And when other dogs aren’t looking, Eko cracks himself up by pushing his nose against their backs and then sprinting away to start a game of tag

My laughter is positive reinforcement for Eko.  If I laugh at something he does, he will do it repeatedly.  Hence why anytime I have my laptop open, there is a good chance Eko will plop his head right next to the screen

Similarly, the best tool to teach Eko to swim was laughter.  I would laugh when he swam to me and he loved it

Whether they know it or not, I feel like most pets are comedians.  What does your pet do that makes you laugh?

Buddy lately has been playing with cicadas, we will go out around 10 at night and the hunt is on for them. He will listen for them and grab them and run around with the cicadas in his mouth as they are buzzing away, then he spits them out and start to play with them on the ground, he pushes them with his nose, once they start to buzz and flap around, Buddy gets this goofy look on his mug, that I just can stop laughing at.

  2. hmmmm…where shall I begin? They always laugh at me, I think they are just silly. :o)

  3. Sage says:

Oh, yes. If I put a pillow on the couch and decide to take a nap, guess who tries to beat me to it. Every time. I swear there’s a grin on her face!

    Hey Will
Where did you find a swimming pool that allows dogs in the Chicago area ? It also looks to be indoors to ?
I have search all around the Chicago area for one and came up with nothing before ? Needed for my.other dog for physical therapy after a surgery and didn’t want to use a lake ?
If you could please share with me ?

  5. Dottie always makes me laugh when she rolls on her back and starts kicking her legs… it’s usually when she’s excited and wants a tummy rub. I swear it looks like she’s riding a bike.

Boomer on the other hand makes me laugh when he wants play, he does this thing where he charges at you and his front legs go out in every direction and his eyes are insane.

  6. Emmadog says:

My mom says that I am just naturally funny and I make her laugh doing something as simple as sitting because of how funny my back legs look when I sit. It must be a GBGV thing because Bailie does the same, I wiggle my little behind like crazy when I am happy, and I just enjoy being a clown, so I think I have a sense of doggie humor.

  7. Whee make the hoomans laugh when whee get really excited about vegetables and dash around squeaking and jumping efurrywhere. Unfortunately this doesn’t work when whee start wanting our vegetables very early morning or late at night, only at midday when they have lunch and feed us veggies.

Doesn’t stop us from trying at other times though, you never know!

He is gorgeous, my Sam has similar traits, when I am on my laptop, Sam just pushes his nose under my arm and insists its time to play….

  9. How adorable! Dakota has always been a clown! His most favorite way to be “clownish” is through thievery. He loves to steal things and get chased….it makes his day!

  10. Boomdeeadda says:

Eko has the best smile too, so easy to be happy around him. When ever Blossum and Mr B are on the sofa together, she makes sure one of her paws is on him. If he gets up (usually to go to the fridge for a snack). She moves into his spot. Even if he’s gone for less than a minute, Blossum will be in his spot when he comes back. We laugh at that ‘little game’.
