When I’m out with Eko I take a lot of photos.  Nothing beats looking through my camera and finding a really great shot, but more often than not I will look at a photo, laugh and think to myself, “Well, that photo is never going up on the blog.” As much as I like posting majestic photos of Eko, life isn’t always a pretty picture so I thought it would only be fair to post some of our lesser efforts and laugh. Tired

Sometimes Eko is too tired for photos

Not his best lookAnd sometimes Eko is so tired he sleeps with his head against a wall

Face for radio

And not all photos from the beach are gems – Eko looks like a little like a demon in this photo…

Demon Eko

and a LOT like a demon in this graveyard photo

Mouth full of water

This is Eko’s face when he realizes that a drink of water has gone down the wrong pipe

Flash blind

I have a whole folder of squint-eyed-Eko photos thanks to the flash on my camera

BatdogA weird camera setting + a weird face by Eko = Eko The Bat

Clearly the blame for these photos lays solely on the back of the photographer, but I have to say that these “mistakes” never fail to make me smile!

Comments for Life With Pets Isn’t Always A Pretty Picture

  1. Have to tell you, your “mistakes” look darned good! ALL of my photos are “mistakes!!”

  2. Victoria says:

yeah – i have a lot of spooky glowing eye photos too. Have several where the dogs turn their head so i have the back of their head or they get up and leave and i have pics of dog butts…..you are probably way better than me – but the fun is trying to get those good shots and my dogs seem ok w/me trying…well for a little while at least.

  3. I love all your pictures Eko – you have the same wing-ears like me :o)

  4. Oh, the out takes can run to thousands! Sadly we have to publish most of ours as we don’t get enough time for second or third tries 😉

  5. Emmadog says:

Mom says, “Thank God for digital cameras”. If she was using film, we would be living under a bridge, broke from film, flash cube, and developing costs! I don’t even know what she is talking about! Funny thing is, we often take like twenty pics but nine times out of ten, the first or last end up being the best! Some of the ‘mistakes’ are also sometimes great shots with the right text. Ahhh…the lives of dog photo models and their amateur human photographers!

  6. Audrey says:

Loved them all, reason – because they all have Eko in it. Keep sharing those mistakes.

  7. Evelyne says:

    ROLFMAO!

Now, THAT’s a true dog shaming. Poor Eko… didn’t he ask you to delete those? lol. Luckily for us you didn’t!!

  8. Misaki says:

Those are some crazy faces BOL

  9. I once got Cody (the chair dog) mid bark as he was sitting for a treat. It was not flattering for him. But he learned to be okay with a camera in his face. And I’ve gotten plenty of pictures of him with his personality in them.

  10. Jorie says:

I looooove these. My favorite by far is him asleep with his head against the wall. Just beyond tuckered. It’s hard being a pooch celeb.

  11. writetowag says:

That one in the graveyard would be great for a Halloween post…spooky cool and that last one really shows off his ridge!!!!

  12. Thanks for sharing these – I’m such a bad photographer – my ratio is about 1:100. Even bought a new camera thinking it would help…not. Love the shot of Eko’s “ridge” though, that looks cool.

  13. You “bad” pics still look way better than my best pics.
Demon Eko looks great to me.

  14. Clowie says:

Any dog would be proud of that tongue!!

  15. Whitney B. says:

The “ugly” pictures of my dogs are my favorites!

  16. Peppino says:

I love seeing outtakes, they are always too funny!! We have a lot of those also!

  17. Heather Dolan says:

Too fun!! Is he a ridgeback? Those not so magestic pictures are awesome!! I really liked the glowing eyes one!! Snap on!!

  18. Kristen Dunne says:

Accidentally took a screen shot. This pic of eko is very cool and I thought you would appreciate it..the web page must have been open and took screen shot while putting phone away..
