Our Trip To The Beach Went Swimmingly

Since we are lucky enough to live close to Lake Michigan, trips to the beach are nothing new for Eko.  In fact, I think the beach is just about Eko’s favorite place in the world.  He loves dashing across the sand and romping through the waves. Nevertheless, Eko

Since we are lucky enough to live close to Lake Michigan, trips to the beach are nothing new for Eko.  In fact, I think the beach is just about Eko’s favorite place in the world.  He loves dashing across the sand and romping through the waves.

Nevertheless, Eko has never been a big swimmer.  He knows how, but he never seems sufficiently motivated or interested in heading out for a paddle.  I decided to change that yesterday so I brought my swimsuit and headed out to lure Eko for a swim.

Right about here, at chest level, is where Eko usually stops.  But I went out further and Eko didn’t want to be left behind

The trip was also fun because we brought a couple new/old friends along.  Neal, a family friend from home, is a veterinary ophthalmologist who just moved to Chicago with his pup, Cassius.  It’s good to know that if Eko ever needs glasses we have a friend nearby!  We actually visited Neal on the road when we stopped in Las Vegas.

Cassius is from Las Vegas, and the desert is not exactly known for its lakes.  Neal took Cassius out for a practice swim and the desert pup was a total natural.  Neal then picked Cassius up out of the deep water to give him a break.  We couldn’t stop cracking up when Cassius just kept on swimming.

I think this desert pup is going to do just fine here in Chicago

Eko stayed behind in the shallows when I went out to get photos, but as usual, Eko just can’t miss out on any fun so he made himself known with a splash.  Literally.

Lake Michigan, never warm to begin with, cools down quickly after summer.  I had so much fun playing swim tag with Eko that I will have to take a few more dips while there is still time.  Summer is not over until we let it be!
