To round out the holidays we hosted our old pal Riley for a few days. Riley gets along great with my two pups, but for reasons beyond my understanding, Riley’s presence always prompts a friendly game of “Who has the biggest play bite.” 6.1

Penny kicked off the taste-test with a  small sample of Riley’s lower cheek

6.2

Riley tried to test her bit on Eko, but his rather large head made it difficult

6.3

So Riley instead took Penny for a spin

6.4

Penny took it upon herself to show her play bite was big enough to take down Eko

6.5

Eko felt otherwise

6.6

“OK, NOW YOU’RE IN TROUBLE!”

6.7

The exact moment when Penny realized she bit off more than she could chew

6.8

“Glrggg…ok, you win, Eko!”

The lesson here? Penny is a bigmouth but Eko has a big mouth!

Comments for Penny bites off more than she can chew

  1. KarenS says:

Love the game of “I can fit your head in my mouth!” And the vocalizing that goes along with it.

Looks like Eko wins. But they both do in all reality.

  2. wow hope Penny has no flabby cheeks now after that nip&tuck by Riley :O)

  3. Awesome photos! Captions made me LOL. Great way to liven up my morning. thanks.

  4. Cupcake says:

OMGoodness! Big mouth? No. BIG mouth. Good work, Eko. You win. Till next time!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  5. coastingnz says:

aaah priceless! Our boys do something similar but you’ve captured the whole thing beautifully. Love getting my morning laugh with your kids – thanks.

  6. Priceless to see that “the rock” Eko rules the puberteering bigmouth Penny.
Speeking of which:It reminds me of my first and most beloved dog’s behaviour, when she had to cope with that little italian diva we found at the streets of Naples.
She taught her everything, she was her guiding star. She was the one who made my dog the way she is today.
She died on January 6th in 2011. Miss her so much.
    Here’s to you, love.

    That looks like fun!

  8. SandySays1 says:

Looks like I have some relatives who could be TV stars on WWE! Eko, my what white teeth you have!

  9. raisingdaisy says:

Oh my gosh!! I’d be so worried that one of them would take the fun a little too seriously and things would turn a bit ugly! And that’s just one more reason why I’m better off having just one dog… 😉 Love the pictures and captions!

  10. Emmadog says:

Love the three of them! In some photos I had to look at the collars to see which dog was which! Sure looks like lots of fun!

  11. Marcela says:

Lol. Such amazing pictures. If somebody that doesn’t have a dog or doesn’t know about dogs, would think that they are killing each other. Alex and Bailey, a doggie I used to board, played what I’d call mouth wrestling, like Eko and Penny, and you know what? They never hurt each other.

  12. cafall says:

Wow! Stretchy skin and lots of teeth! I bet they have lots of fun.

    Shel’ll learn. Maybe.

  14. derrycats says:

Poor Penny…guess we all bite off more than we can chew sometimes!

  15. fozziemum says:

Hahaahah Happy New Year guys! and the games continue 🙂 indeed a good game of bitey face seems to have been had by all..Eko of course wins with the biggest chops! hugs Fozziemum xx

  16. Always makes me giggle when the youngsters get their comeuppance.

  17. Katy says:

    Loved this story 🙂

  18. With multiple dogs, there’s always a chance that what started out as play-time ends up being some serious ‘king-of-the-hill’ action. But it looks like your two have things well balanced. Terrific photos, Will!

  19. great times and great nibbles. love the photos.

  20. pawedblog says:

Hahaha! I reckon Penny must have learned that lesson pretty quickly!
    Hugs, Carrie and Pups x

  21. houndstooth4 says:

Kali and I have been following “Marking Our Territory” for a while now. We’ve enjoyed reading about Penny and Eko and seeing the great photos their owner posts. We thought you might like this too.
