But there is something, or rather someone, who gives Penny pause and blows her hair/ears back

And that’s Eko! He doesn’t run wild nearly as much as Penny does, but when he does take off it’s a sight to behold

He’ll let Penny run to him

And then he takes off at full speed

I think he likes to remind Penny that he’s “still got it” and could out run her any time he wanted

But in case a day comes when Penny could catch him, Eko likes to come to a whirling stop and let out a menacing play-growl

It’s a reminder he’ll always be bigger than Penny and it sends her sprinting away every time

Which leaves Eko to chuckle and trot off while Penny still thinks he’s chasing her

Penny may be a pretty good play-tactician, but she still falls for the oldest trick in the book. It’s good to know there’s at least one dog who can send Penny running in the opposite direction. I’m just glad that dog happens to be Eko – I need all the help I can get!

Comments for The Oldest Trick in the Book

  1. Victoria says:

Yep he knows how to keep her in line and have a good time too – you are a lucky guy!

  2. The 2nd to last picture that shows the definition of Eko’s muscles is amazing!

  3. KDKH says:

Some of the b/w photos really show off Eko’s athletic build. What muscles! I’m glad to hear he’s still got it. I love Penny, but I think Eko’s not getting enough press!

  4. Jeff says:

Great shot of Eko stop and turn. Look at all those muscles flex.

  5. Exactly like Neeka and Khoi. There will be times I will see the glint in Neeka’s eyes and know what’s coming. Of course Khoi is oblivious. Just yesterday he had taken off into the lake (of what’s left) after some geese and when he returned (empty mouth), Neeka pounced on him. Couldn’t believe he still had any energy left. They ripped up the sand for a good ten minutes before he headed back into the water. That happened three times. I was tired watching them.

  6. Emmadog says:

They are so good together, and Eko is so tolerant!

  7. Kismet says:

Eko has a turbocharger? I thought Penny was turbo’d.

  8. Wow- Penny & Eko look absolutely stunning in black and white!

  9. coastingnz says:

Great photos. That is so our Nico and Ziggy – when he wants to Nico can out run, out jump, out anything Ziggy can do – he just has to be in the “mood”.

  10. LOL!! I love that first picture of Penny’s ears blowing…and the muscle on Eko – wow! Great photos.

  11. Cupcake says:

You and Eko are a good team! It takes both of you to out-energize Penny. ….plus probably 8 more dogs and 6 more people….!!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  12. That Eko has been around the block, I don’t think Penny will ever outsmart him.

  13. Way to go Eko, your the man! Great pictures.

  14. This made me laugh out loud with the pics! 🙂

  15. Giggle, I love that Eko plays head games with Ms. Penny. Way to go, dude. 🙂

  16. Wow that picture of eko when he turnes is just beautifull! those musles!
