Even when the beach is empty Eko and Penny have a buddy to smile with

And more importantly, a friend to romp with

But despite their constant companionship (or maybe because of it), sometimes the dogs feel the need to do their own thing. And in Penny’s case, her “thing” is full throttle zooming.

No dogs? No problem. All Penny needs is an open beach

She’s a one-girl whirling dervish

The bench is quickly engulfed in Penny’s sand-vortex

Penny, party of one. No reservation required

After Penny’s had her hoedown, she’ll trot right back to Eko, smugly pleased.

“OMG, Eko, did you see me!?”

We all need a little time to ourselves once in a while. Most of us use that time to relax. But as we well know, Penny certainly isn’t most of us!

Comments for Party of One

  1. Zoomies! My parents’ lab love to do zoomies in their back yard. Butthead did zoomies before her surgeries, but isn’t released to do those again yet. Le Moo feels that zoomies are beneath her. 😉

  2. it’s great to be alone for some minutes but never lonesome :o)

  3. Emmadog says:

Bailie is good at entertaining herself as well. I don’t mind sitting back and watching from a distance. There are lots of reasons for having more than one dog, but it is also nice for each dog to get one on one and alone time too.

  4. Victoria says:

full thrrottle = living and loving life to the fullest – for some pups at least

  5. nerdgrl (Kim S.) says:

Amara is an only pup. It’s funny to see how she doesn’t like to see my husband working on his tablet while he sits on the sofa. She definitely feels that his lap is for her alone. Even if she’s comfortably snuggled next to me; if he sits down, opens up the tablet, she’s right there to let him know that his lap is hers…And yet, when she zooms, she zooms…the backyard is her personal race track!

  6. Those are fabulous photos Will!

Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Smartphone that does whatever it pleases

  7. dashlilly says:

Yes! Although I have friends who, when they see Dash lying sweetly and calmly next to me, say “that could have been your life, but then along came Lilly.” And Lilly is usually dancing or trying to snuggle with the guest. But truly I can’t imagine life without both! And I think Dash actually likes his younger sister!

  8. coastingnz says:

love that last shot – Penny so proud of herself. Our Ziggy does something similar – spins on the spot – so funny to see and always super proud of himself.

  9. I’d say they are both pretty lucky to have each other.

  10. Kismet says:

Good thing she’s a canine. Otherwise the Crime Dog would give her a reckless driving ticket.

  11. Cupcake says:

Oh, P. You are a gorgeous Tasmanian devil! Your smile cracks me up.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  12. Yup Penny can have a party all on her own.

  13. We call it “going turbo” when Atlas does this. I love how he’ll go for a spin and then trot over with a look that says “Are you guys watching?!?!” before darting off for the next round. Usually followed by a full-on flop onto the ground.

  14. I suspect that ‘whirling dervish’ IS relaxing when she’s got a case of the zoomies! 🙂
