Keeping up with the Boneses

A friend orders a better dish, a coworker pulls up in a new car, someone buys that house on your street you’ve always wanted. We’ve all been a bit green with envy before. Jealousy is not known to be a particularly endearing quality, but I have to admit that it
A friend orders a better dish, a coworker pulls up in a new car, someone buys that house on your street you’ve always wanted. We’ve all been a bit green with envy before. Jealousy is not known to be a particularly endearing quality, but I have to admit that it can sometimes be quite cute amongst canine siblings. 3.1

At the beach Penny dug up some buried treasure

3.2

She was quite pleased with herself

3.3

At which point Eko decided life could not go on if he did not have that stick

3.4

When Eko pounced, Penny wisely dropped the stick and got out of the way

3.5

Eko was delighted, but Penny would not stand idly by while her treasure belonged to another

3.6

With a herculean effort, young Penny twisted the branch from the maw of her older brother

Eko shook off the defeat and prepared for another attack. But just before he dove into the fray he discovered another stick lying in the sand. The wily veteran picked up the new stick and went strutting right by his little sister.

3.7

Who immediately dropped herΒ worthless stick and chased the new prize

Next time I’m feeling green I’ll try to remember that life is a big beach and there are plenty of sticks!

Comments for Keeping up with the Boneses

  1. Lana says:

Love the face on the first picture! Our girl, Koda, has the same expression when she gets something “priceless”. And, of course, her brother immediately needs it, whatever it is – stick, toy, anything really…. He even started eating Greenies after he saw her eating it. He would not even touch them before… πŸ™‚ Thank you for the post.

  2. coastingnz says:

Priceless. Love the faces – they totally tell the story for you.

  3. Kyla says:

Sticks? Food is what’s important. Those 2 can have all the sticks they want.

  4. dashlilly says:

yep…whatever one has, the other has to take .. then…repeat. It can go on and on. And when Dash gets a treat and Lilly has forgotten that she got a treat when she woke up earlier … dear heavens. you’d think that she was neglected and forgotten. She stares at her brother and sulks. I swear she sulks!

  5. Hahahaha! Or the stick is always better in someone else’s mouth? Hope you all have a great week!

  6. Seems the dogs taught their Dad a new trick instead of vice versa…….it’s true – there are a whole lot of sticks out there so there’s no need to fight over just one! Life is much like that…….sort of like if you missed the bus no biggie because another one will be along in a few minutes. It’s good to grab what you can WHEN you can, but chances are, other things will be coming your way soon and you don’t want to miss out on them either. At my age all these kinds of thoughts pop into your head all the time reminding us that we just might have learned a few things along our life path after all!! GREAT photos of Eko and Penny.

  7. Misaki says:

Can’t beat a good game of ‘i have the stick, chase me!’

  8. Emmadog says:

Bailie loves to grab sticks and stuff she finds lying around, I get mad after a block or two of her flaunting it in my face and go after it. She always drops it, and I take off with it, but then she wants it back. At that point, Mom makes us drop it and leave it because she says that game is no good on a leash! Those stinkin’ little sisters!

  9. pawedblog says:

Haha great post! I do love to see little acts of jealousy played out between pups! If only we handled it with the grace and dignity they do!
