[VIDEO] Right Time for a Pet? Right Now!
This week’s video piggybacks Monday’s post about the “right time” to get a pet. I’m happy, excited, nervous and a whole swirl of emotions about having another dog. But most, importantly – I’m ready. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSJ5ETY0aJ0 I’m going to need to buy a bigger futon!
I love the shot of you two chiling in the sun on the couch – that image speaks volumes!! Have a great Easter and can’t wait to see Eko’s new sister!
how careful he is when he enters the couch! but with another funny guy you really need a bigger futon. have a great easter weekend :o)
Love this video! I can totally identify with “waiting for the right time.” I can’t wait to see the new family member!
I snuggle best with Daddy on the sofa; I snuggle best with Mommy on the bed. Either way, they’re very lucky to have had me all these years. I never had a sibling (though Daddy sometimes wonders wistfully how life would have been if they’d also gotten my litter brother) so I’m excited to hear how Eko adapts to his little sister. –Steffi
We have an 11 year male and a 7 year female. They completely bonded. My only fear is when he passes away. No fear when getting the second, much easier. Best of luck! I know many great breeders if you need one.
YES you are going to need a bigger Futon – snorts. But it’s going to be so much fun indeed! XOXO – Bacon
I might be almost as excited as you about you getting another pup! I have to say you have inspired me. I have for a very long time wanted a hamster and I think I might get one. First I’ll do some research and I’ll also have to wait until we are in our new house (in a month or two, we are doing the boring legal stuff at the moment!) so it can be a settled environment but I don’t see why I shouldn’t just go ahead and get one!
Thanks for helping me realise that there is no better time than now!
Cody and his older sister usually got along pretty well. But they also had much different personalities. And we got the dogs at different points in our lives.
Ohhhhhh I’m crying tears of HAPPINESS!! I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a lucky girl she is going to be!
You are well on your way to becoming that crazy dog guy, and that is a good thing to be. We can’t wait to find out more about the new little one, breed, etc. It will be hard but worth it. Mom thought two dogs wouldn’t be harder than one but she was wrong and now we are three and loving it!
Will you have inspired me — we are scouting out the perfect puppy at long last. It will probably not be until September, because of facial surgery which doesn’t allow me to lift stuff yet, but then nothing can stop me.
Can’t wait to meet Eko’s new sister! Name suggestion: UT-Oh
Hope you get a rescue this time.
Can’t wait until we can all meet the new addition to your family! Got any names in mind, or are you like us – we have to wait until we have the puppy and live with her for a few days before the right name chooses itself for the pup!
So exciting! E., you are a big jamoke on that futon! I can’t wait till another doggie squeezes in!
Love and licks,
I think Raising Daisy’s mom has the right idea. Fit the dog to a name. so just keep building on your suggestion box, and when you have her, one of those suggestions will pop out at you. Another one I came up with is Hic-up. ‘Don’t know where that came from, but it just popped into my gray matter.. LOL I still like Wilko, even for a girl. After all, you won’t be raising a foo foo kind of dog. Have a great Easter!
Dottie and Tuffy-Cat.
I would also recommend a king sized bed to go with that new dog. That way hopefully there will be room for all of you when you are sleeping.
Do human men mark their territory? Momwithoutpaws thinks that they do..
Will you never know when the right time is, but a gut feeling is the best way to know.
After my Charlie passed away last year, I was going to wait, but I went to my vet to talk to him about what could of happened to him.
I wasn’t even thinking of getting another dog so soon, (3 days after he passed away), my vets tech’s were telling me about a dog that was bought to them by the police a month ago. I asked to see him since I was waiting to talk to my vet. Well two hours later, I was adopting Buddy.
It was the best thing I.did ! He is like my last two dogs mixed into one. He has helped me though a lot, and is my travel bud, he goes everywhere with me. He fit in my life.just at the right time.
I am looking to adopt another dog soon, have to finish my back yard first, then Buddy and I.are off to find a brother or sister.
Hope all goes great for you and Eko.
I may have missed it, but are you getting another Rhodesian Ridgeback? I

Totally agree, Mummy and daddy waited to move house before they got me and then they debated for a few months about when to do it. In the end they just got me and hoped for the best
